Growth & Flexibility at William Newton Hospital
I have worked with William Newton Hospital since October 2022 but worked alongside the hospital since March 2015. I previously worked with a private practice the hospital absorbed and was offered the position to continue being manager for the practice as well as the other general surgeon on staff.
From a manager's standpoint, the relationships I have built with patients we see in our clinic are the most rewarding aspect of this job. I love when I run into patients out in the wild, and they know my name and take time to say hi. From a director's standpoint, I find it very gratifying to get to work on projects that help a wide range of people.
The Winfield community is amazing. I was born here at WNH and raised in Winfield; I returned after college, got married here, and I am raising my children here. The community has a lot of charm; it’s very welcoming and there are ample activities and opportunities offered for all walks of life. The cost of living in Winfield is very affordable compared to the bigger cities; it meets all the needs of a bigger community too.
I love my little work family here at Winfield surgery and service. We support one another at work and outside the hospital. Most days, I feel like I have a good work-life balance. I strive to be flexible with my staff, which sometimes means I sacrifice my own. However, I don’t have any complaints. I get ample time off if I choose to use it. Plus, when a family or employee is in need, there is always a big response from our work community to help them out.
In my opinion, the top three reasons job seekers should apply for a position at William Newton Hospital are comradery, good work-life balance, and a wide network of resources for learning opportunities and growth. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to level up in my position; this empowered me to grow in my leadership role and expand my skills over seeing multiple clinics. I see WNH constantly providing opportunities for people to improve their skill sets or leadership roles through education, and WNH often cover the costs for those opportunities as well.
