Employee of the Quarter
Our Employee of the Quarter award recognizes an exceptional employee who exemplifies the WNH Circle of Care Standards of Performance and our core values (integrity, patient-centered care, accountability, compassion, and excellence) in everything they do. These employees are respected at all levels and display a cooperative and supportive attitude while actively contributing to the hospital's mission to provide the best healthcare and community service possible.
When will it be awarded?
Once a quarter. Nominations will be accepted on an ongoing basis. The Employee of the Quarter will be announced in the Exchange newsletter.
Who can be nominated?
Any William Newton Hospital or Clinic full-time or part-time employee (excludes PRN and contract staff).
Who nominates?
Employees are nominated by their peers
What does the Employee of the Quarter receive?
- A signed certificate of acknowledgement
- Designated parking until the following quarter
- $250 check
- Photo on Employee of the Quarter wall of fame
- Recognition on William Newton Hospital social media

Melissa Howerton
2nd Quarter 2026
Melissa Howerton has been selected as Employee of the Quarter for the second quarter of 2026! Melissa has been with WNH for almost five years, serving as the full-time purchasing agent.
Materials Management Director Terry Rodgers says, "Melissa does an amazing job for our department. Along with ordering most everything for the hospital, she also assists me in other areas of purchasing. She does a great job supporting the other departments in their needs while being economical on the things we order. She has a great personality and is a light of enthusiasm every day. You can tell by her work ethics that she is dedicated to the hospital and our department."
