William Newton Hospital Welcomes Jason Anglin as Chief Executive Officer

William Newton Hospital officially welcomed Jason Anglin, MBA, as its new Chief Executive Officer on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026. Following an extensive search, the William Newton Hospital Board of Trustees appointed Anglin to lead the non-profit critical access hospital into its next chapter of regional service and operational excellence.

Anglin steps into the CEO role following a successful 12-month interim tenure by Gigi Fergus, MBA, BSN, RN. Over the past year, Fergus guided WNH through key strategic initiatives, stabilizing the hospital’s financial position, enhancing quality and compliance protocols, and placing a strong emphasis on workforce training and development. With the planned leadership transition complete, Anglin will build upon this progress to expand healthcare access across Cowley County and surrounding communities.

Bringing 32 years of healthcare executive experience to Winfield, Anglin possesses a deep background in critical access and rural hospital operations. He spent the first decade of his healthcare career serving as a hospital Chief Financial Officer. For more than two decades, he has served as CEO for community and regional hospitals, most recently leading Monroe County Hospital in Monroeville, Alabama.

Throughout his administrative career, Anglin has developed a proven record of institutional growth and stability. His career milestones include successfully guiding five financial turnarounds, overseeing eight major construction projects—including the ground-up development of a new hospital and a modern clinical facility—and recruiting more than 30 healthcare providers to rural and regional communities.

Anglin earned his Master of Business Administration from West Texas A&M University. His combination of financial expertise and operational leadership positions him to address immediate needs while strategically positioning the William Newton Hospital network for sustainable long-term expansion.

As he assumes leadership, Anglin’s primary focus during his first 90 days centers on relationship-building and detailed financial analysis. He plans to conduct listening tours across all hospital departments, conduct a thorough analysis of organizational finances to shape the upcoming fiscal year plan, and target ongoing operational enhancements in accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Immediate operational goals for the hospital under Anglin’s direction include maintaining financial stability and strengthening provider recruitment efforts across critical specialties, including primary care, emergency medicine, OB/GYN, orthopedic surgery, and anesthesia services. Looking toward future clinical expansions, Anglin plans to explore establishing dedicated pain management services to address regional community needs.

Over the next five years, Anglin envisions reinforcing WNH’s role as an essential regional healthcare hub for south-central Kansas.

"William Newton Hospital is uniquely positioned to serve as a strong regional facility," Anglin noted. "WNH stands out as the only hospital within a 45-minute radius operating a labor and delivery unit, and offering an on-site cardiac catheterization lab is exceptionally rare for a facility of our size. We are vital to this region, and my goal is to build on that foundation."

Anglin’s decision to relocate to Winfield was guided by both professional alignment and personal connection. Following a period of personal loss, he took a career break and later accepted a position in Alabama. However, he soon realized he desired to be closer to his family in the Midwest. When the CEO role became available at William Newton Hospital, it proved to be a natural fit.

Having purchased a home locally, Anglin is fully committed to the Winfield community and looks forward to actively participating in local civic and service organizations. In his personal time, Anglin enjoys walking his dogs and playing tennis and pickleball.
