Union State Bank Reaches $100k in Gifts to Hospital

Apr 06, 2020

Bringing Union State Bank’s contribution to $100,000 since 2011, the bank has renewed its $10,000 annual pledge to the William Newton Healthcare Foundation. This pledge names Union State Bank as presenting sponsor for the foundation’s major fundraiser, a formal gala and benefit auction.Union State Bank presents check to hospital

“Now more than ever, communities are recognizing the importance of their local hospitals,” Union State Bank Winfield Market President Cory Helmer remarked.

“Union State Bank is proud to continue to support William Newton Hospital through our sponsorship of the 2020 Gala.”

Union State Bank has been supportive of William Newton Healthcare Foundation efforts since the non-profit was founded in 2007. Not only has the bank contributed financial resources, but Union State Bank representatives have served on the hospital board of trustees, the foundation board of directors, and numerous committees. Union State Bank staff have volunteered at events, and many contribute personally to the foundation each year.

“Our commitment to a healthy community is more than just financial, the Union State Bank team is here to help in any way possible. USB’s motto of ‘Better Together’ reflects the desire each of us have to make this a better place for our friends, neighbors, and area businesses,” said Helmer.

Previous contributions from Union State Bank have supported physician recruitment, medical equipment upgrades, and various hospital renovations. This year’s contributions will be directed towards William Newton Hospital’s capital fundraising effort, phase two of the Second Century Campaign focusing on the emergency department expansion. In addition, Union State Bank’s $10,000 pledge will be counted towards Winfield Economic Development’s $500,000 corporate challenge gift.

William Newton Hospital Chief Executive Officer Ben Quinton spoke to Union State Bank’s meaningful contribution.

“For a decade, Union State Bank’s partnership has enabled our foundation to host its pinnacle event,” explained Quinton. “The gala not only generates additional financial support for the hospital, but provides an opportunity to thank our donors. We are grateful to Union State Bank for helping to advance quality healthcare within our community.”

To date, the foundation has raised nearly $300,000 through its gala. For 2020, the 13th annual event is slated for October 10 at the Burford Theatre to draw on the venue’s décor for a roaring twenties theme. To contact the William Newton Healthcare Foundation, call 620-222-6275.
