Union State Bank Pledges $10k to Hospital

Jul 20, 2023

Bringing Union State Bank’s contributions to $151,000 since 2010, the bank renewed its annual pledge to William Newton Healthcare Foundation. This gift names Union State Bank as presenting sponsor for the foundation’s major fundraiser, a formal gala and benefit auction.

“We are delighted to announce that Union State Bank will once again be the presenting sponsor for the 2023 healthcare foundation gala at William Newton Hospital, marking our thirteenth consecutive year of support. Our dedication to promoting a healthy community goes beyond financial contributions. The entire Union State Bank team is committed to assisting in every possible way,” as stated by Cory Helmer, Winfield Market President of Union State Bank.

Helmer expressed his appreciation, saying:

"In the last few years, the resources provided by our local hospital have been more vital than ever before. We consider it a privilege to aid the foundation in its mission to provide philanthropic support for high-quality healthcare at William Newton Hospital.”

Union State Bank has been supportive of William Newton Healthcare Foundation’s efforts since the non-profit was founded in 2007. Not only has the bank contributed financial resources, but bank representatives have served on the hospital board of trustees, foundation board of directors, and numerous committees. Union State Bank staff have volunteered at events, and many contribute personally to the foundation each year.

Previous contributions from Union State Bank have supported physician recruitment, medical equipment upgrades, and various hospital renovations. Proceeds from the 2023 gala will be directed towards the Second Century Campaign, which supports William Newton Hospital’s long-term plan to expand facilities, meeting demands for access to healthcare in Cowley County and neighboring regions.

William Newton Hospital Chief Executive Officer Brian Barta speaks to Union State Bank’s meaningful contribution.

“Union State Bank works in so many ways to support our community, and we’re extremely appreciative and honored they continue to choose to support our hospital and mission of providing high-quality care,” says Barta. “USB is an outstanding example of the partners and supporters dedicated to ensuring William Newton Hospital is able to provide access to essential healthcare services throughout our region.”

To date, the foundation has raised over $475,000 through its gala. The 16th annual event will be held at Behr Rafters in Winfield on Saturday, October 7. Themed ‘Denim and Diamonds,’ the gala will include entertainment, a five-course meal, and silent and live auctions.
