WNH to Host Community Conversation on Maternal & Child Health
May 19, 2026
William Newton Hospital leadership is inviting area residents to a gathering focused on the landscape of local maternal care, obstetric services, and child health. The Community Conversation will take place on Wednesday, May 27, at 5:00 p.m. at the Winfield Public Library. Doors open at 4:45 p.m. for refreshments; Families are welcome.
As rural hospitals across the country navigate evolving staffing and resource challenges, WNH remains committed to maintaining a transparent dialogue with the families it serves. The upcoming event is designed to move that dialogue into a collaborative setting aimed at providing information and fostering a constructive exchange of ideas with local families.
“We understand that access to safe, local services is a top priority for our community,” said William Newton Hospital Interim CEO, Gigi Fergus, MBA, BSN, RN. “Our goal is to provide a clear look at the hospital’s growth plans, our active recruitment of providers, and the safety-first protocols we have in place to ensure patient stability and care coordination.”
To ensure the meeting addresses the community’s most pressing interests, WNH has invited residents to submit questions in advance. These will help identify key themes for members of the hospital leadership team to discuss during the presentation.
For those unable to attend, the hospital will share informational materials digitally via website and social media channels following the meeting. For those seeking individual discussions, hospital leadership remains available for one-on-one calls to address specific questions. Please call 620-221-2300 and request to be connected to the administration office.
