Union State Bank Pledges $10k to Hospital

Jul 31, 2019

Bringing Union State Bank’s contribution to $90,000 since 2011, the bank has renewed its $10,000 annual pledge to the William Newton Healthcare Foundation. This pledge names Union State Bank as presenting sponsor for the foundation’s major fundraiser, a formal gala and benefit auction.

“As a community bank, Union State Bank understands William Newton Hospital’s vital role in serving our region,” Union State Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Eric Kurtz remarked. “A strong hospital like WNH helps fuel the local economy, improving not only our community’s health, but financial well-being.”

Union State Bank has been supportive of William Newton Healthcare Foundation efforts since the non-profit was founded in 2007. Not only has the bank contributed financial resources, but Union State Bank representatives have served on the hospital board of trustees, the foundation board of directors, and numerous committees. Union State Bank staff have volunteered at events, and many contribute personally to the foundation each year.

Union State Bank Winfield Market President Cory Helmer added, “USB’s gala sponsorship solidifies our support of William Newton Hospital, but our ongoing commitment is much deeper. We share in the vision for a thriving community and know quality healthcare is crucial to that.”

Previous contributions from Union State Bank have supported physician recruitment, medical equipment upgrades, and various hospital renovations. This year’s contributions will be directed towards William Newton Hospital’s capital fundraising effort, phase two of the Second Century Campaign focusing on the emergency department expansion. In addition, Union State Bank’s $10,000 pledge will be counted towards Winfield Economic Development’s $500,000 corporate challenge gift.

William Newton Hospital Chief Executive Officer Ben Quinton spoke to Union State Bank’s meaningful contribution.

“Each year, this gift from Union State Bank enables our foundation to host the gala, which generates further financial support and fosters engagement with donors,” explained Quinton. “USB is a shining example of corporate citizenship within our community, and we truly appreciate their partnership.”

To date, the foundation has raised nearly $240,000 through its gala. The 12th annual event is scheduled for October 12 at Wheat State Winery. To contact the William Newton Healthcare Foundation, call 620-222-6275.
