Celebrate Fitness and Community at the 36th Annual Junebug Jog

Get ready to lace up your running shoes. The 36th annual Junebug Jog, hosted by William Newton Hospital and the Winfield Recreation Commission, is set for Saturday, June 14, inviting participants of all ages to join a morning of healthy activity and community spirit.
This year's event promises a scenic road race experience with the timed courses starting and ending near the main entrance of Winfield High School. The Jr. Junebug event will take place on the Joe Vann track.
A new option at the Junebug Jog this year is the 10k race for those seeking a longer distance.
“Go short or go long. There’s a distance for the whole family to run, walk, or stroll,” says William Newton Hospital’s Sarah Johnson, race coordinator.
At 8:00 a.m., runners and walkers will take off for the 10k and 5K races, followed by the 1-Mile Run/Walk at 8:10 a.m.
The energy builds with the Jr. Junebug 100-Meter Dash for children ages eight and under at 9:00 a.m., a fun, untimed event where every participant receives a medal and a special surprise. Kids will also enjoy getting high-fives from the Midwest Moos collegiate baseball team at the finish line.
The awards ceremony will take place at 9:20 a.m., celebrating the achievements of the top two finishers from each timed event.
Adding to the excitement this year, the Junebug Jog introduces a new "Groups & Teams" element. Participants are encouraged to form groups with family, friends, coworkers, or run club members, and the "Best Dressed" team will win a pool party from the Winfield Recreation Commission.
Beyond the race, participants and spectators can enjoy snacks and refreshments at the finish line, and all timed event participants will be included in door prize drawings after the race.
Participants in the 10k, 5K, and 1-Mile Run/Walk will receive a t-shirt, race bib, and a unique memento, free finish line photos printed and mailed directly to their homes. Registration fees are $30 for the 10k, $25 for the 5k, and $20 for the 1-mile through June 13, increasing by $5 on race day. For the Jr. Junebug Dash, the fee is $5 without a shirt and $12 with a shirt if registered before race day, and $7 and $14, respectively, on race day.
To guarantee a shirt on race day, it is recommended to register by May 28. Day-of registration is welcome.
